Bring your skills to the 2020 Kenworth Dealer of the Year! Kenworth Sales Co., a 38-location Kenworth and Isuzu truck dealership group, is looking for a Service Pickup and Delivery  Driver to join our Chesapeake, VA team.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The primary function of the Service Pickup and Delivery Driver is to pick-up / deliver new and used trucks and vehicles repaired by Kenworth Sales Company to customers, branch locations, wholesalers, etc.

** Due to federally mandated DOT regulations, Kenworth Sales Company is a drug-free workplace. Any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a pre- employment drug screening.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a current, valid Commercial Driver's License for Class 7 & 8 tractors and trucks.  Maintains an excellent driving record, and completes all requirements for keeping CDL in good standing including physical exams, drug tests, driver's logbook, etc.
  • Maintains courteous and continuing relations with port authorities, highway     patrol, Departments of Transportation and Motor Vehicles in the course of this employment.
  • Be available when called from time to time as needed to drive Class 7 and 8 tractors and trucks that are in the control of the dealership using the dealership dealer plates and insurance.
  • Occasionally delivering trucks to customers/inter branch transfers of trucks.
  • Maintenance –Outside maintenance as needed on a daily / weekly basis. Sweeps and picks up trash daily. Snow removal as needed. Helps establish and maintain higher facility standards                                                                                                                                         
  • Repairs - perform minor repairs including shop machines or tools,wall repair, painting, lights, windows, doors, desks or any other repairs needed within the facility.
  • Assist management with operations as the need arises.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. 
  • High school diploma or the equivalent. 
  • Current, valid Commercial Driver's License in good standing. 
  • Clean Driving record.
  • General knowledge of mechanical components of Class 7 and 8 trucks.
  • Familiarity with trucking industry and the requirements for transporting Class 7 & 8 tractors and trucks within and between the different states. 
  • 5 years minimum experience driving a commercial truck
  • Working knowledge of the federal highway system. 
  • Excellent organization, communication, and driving skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Will bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and feel.
  • Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, paint and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
  • Spend extensive periods of time driving multiple vehicles over short and long distances.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted on a regular basis.
  • Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
